hard drives with OS

I have two drives, one with my os on which is a samsung 840 pro 128gb and a wd blue 1tb. i am building a new pc and wanted to know if i could just put those drives in without having to buy more and buy os again?

i do but its windows 8.1, does that make a difference?

No sorry i didnt mean to windows 7 anyway it doesnt matter if its windows 8. ok so when you boot up the system with the hard drive the booting process will freeze and restart the computer, it will keep doing this if you dont turn the system off. The bad news is you will have to completely re install windows, Am i right thinking that you know how to install windows 8
