Hard Freezing During Downloads

Recently i noticed my computer completely freezing anytime i download a game from Steam or BattleNet. Just last night i attempted to download Call of Duty: WWII off Steam. After i initiated the download, i walked away from my computer, but after about 2 hours, i came back to my system completely locked and the download stuck at 8%. Any suggestions on how to figure the issue?

Have you checked your event viewer?
Have you cleaned out your temp files?
Have you run CCleaner (do not)
Have you run Malwarebytes anti-malware?
Were you running a bunch of other programs?
