Hard mouse mat skipping problems.

I bought a Corsair MM400 mouse pad. I have a Razer Naga and I have been experiencing skipping. I've tried lowering the DPI for 2200 to as low as 1000. Blew some compressed air at the sensor didn't help. Is it an issue with using a laser mouse?

I had a hard mouse mat but it was a bad experience. I only use soft mouse mats nowadays. Do you have a soft mouse mat to try on to compare?
