O well ive been looking for a way to make my offline computer "think" its online.
( you know when you unplug your netcable you get a little msg from windows that the net cable is unplugged )

i know i can connect my computer to a hub ( they r realy cheep ) but i was thinking, what if there is a program out there that can do the same trik or the is a methode involving some resistors and capasitors. ive been browsing the inet for solotions, but was unable to finde any. so if any 1 know of a site or a program that can do the trik i whould be very happy to hear :) .

im trying to make windows think its connected to a network , realy simple thing,
not anyone whould use in the real world but its an experiment im trying to do.

when you unplug your netcable in your ethernet adaptor ,youll get a little popup saying that internet connection is unavaiable, i'm just looking for a way to "cheat" that if you will, so the adaptor still thinks it connected to something. ( the simplest way i found so far is just to connect it to a hub ).

that device your talking about is a hub. i guess for sh!ts and giggles you could make a 1 port hub. i think one time i was screwing around and i shorted a couple of the ethernet pins and the cable unplugged thing went away. you could always put in an extra nic card and connect them with a crossover lol.

well the first thing with the hub .. ( i know that :) useing that atm.) im gonna use it with my portable therefor no room for an extra Netadaptor.

allso ive tryed to "short circuit" then, mean connecting the trans plus and minus to recive plus and minus ( ie making a cross loopback ) no luck there either. guess i have to figure out how to build a 1 port hub hehe.
