Harddisk takes 5 minutes to boot, when being shot down all night.

My HP suddenly had the problem that when it had stood in a while, it takes 5 minutes before that you can hear the sound of the hard drive beginning.
I've tried everything from formatting, and even switch hard drive several times, but still the same problem.

What could be the problem be and how can I fix it?

I would look at a hard drive that is too close to capacity (they do best no more than 50% full), or a drive that needs to be defragmented (try running the freeware Defraggler).
