Harddrive copying

i am upgrading my laptop hard drive but dont want to lose my files or my operating system (windows vista) also i have files on my new hard drive which i am upgrading to so how do i add all my old files and OS to my new Harddrive?

a little complicated, but could someone help?

Not complicated at all. Get a imaging software, run it on the old drive to back it up. Then run it on the new drive once it's installed to restore the image. Try this one http://clonezilla.org/
