Harddrive locking up computer

Installed a new motherboard

Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard

And also reinstalled Windows 8.1.

Basically the problem im having is when i move a file form my SSD to my HDD the speed will gradually drop to 0/s bytes. Then my computer will lockup even the internet will stop working.

I have done tests with Seagate tools and Samsung Magician on both my SSD and HDD everything is fine.

Is their something im missing?

Sata mode is AHCI.

SPECS:

Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard
GTX 660
AMD Phenom X4 965 BE
SEAGATE 500GB HDD
Samsung 180 SSD
750 Corsair PSU

any chance you can try different sata cables or ports on your MoBo? may be a link issue.

I've tried changing the ports and sata cables before no difference

have you tested in safe mode to see if there is any software causing the issue?

I haven't i ill try that now.

Also i should mention that i can move files from the HDD to my SSD just not the other way around.

Doesn't work in safe mode either.

Checked if their were any bad sectors came up all green.

Tried completing deleting everything on the HDD, partitions etc. Then added a new partition. same problem.

I'm thinking maybe there is something i should be doing in the bios.

Here is an image of the problem.

And while its copying the rest of my computer will completely slow down to the same speed so my entire computers speed will be 177 kbs or so until i close the transfer then it will return to normal.

Hi,

Seemed to have fixed it by re-updating by bios. Updated with the same version i already had but now im getting 100mb/s transfer speed just copied around 30gbs to the hdd and its took about 4 - 5 minutes.
