harddrive may be slowing down

My pc has been get pretty slow lately i have cleaned it out but it did not help a whole lot and when im downloading and updating on steam i notice that it says busy writing to disk a lot and stops the download where before it would not do that. is there any suggestions for what might be wrong.

Could be Malware, Have you tried running a scan with Malwarebytes yet.

Also its very rare a hard drive could slow down, usually they just stop working.

yea i have and i haven't gotten any pop up stuff that usually come with it so i don't believe that would be it. Ill scan again for good measure tonight though and can avast and malwarebytes coexsist.

Yes I run malwarebytes and bullguard at the same time with no problem so should work. keep me posted on what happens.

i thought that too but when my downloads were faster that my write time on my hd i started to think that. I dont have that fast of internet consideing and it always kept up before

Forgot to mention has your Hard drive been making any crunching noises these maybe signs the drive is failing

my mouse laged to the answer and nothing like that just the normal noises

i did do a full virus and malware scan and it fond a few things. The start up scan found the most. it seems to be running a bit better now it doesnt say busy writing to disk as much. thanks
