HardDrive Not Detected

I recently got a 2TB hard drive to replace an older 500G model. When I plug it in and boot up the machine is not recognizing that the new drive is there - even though I used the exact same cables and ports that work fine with the previous drive.

The OS on this machine is on a separate SSD. I only need the new HD to be used for storage not to boot from.
The machine boots from the SSD normally it's just not seeing the new HD.

I can actually see the new drive in the Device Manager section but it's not showing up as available space in the partition section.
Maybe it needs to be formatted. Not sure how to do this.

This is definitely a partition issue. The 2TB *is* showing up but as part of the same drive that the old HD is in which I did not expect.

I am trying to move the data off the old HDD and onto the new one.
But they are both logically treated as a single drive in the computer.
I need to figure out how to separate these without accidentally deleting the data on the old HDD.
