[SOLVED] harddrive not showing up in windows

so my dad's HDD stopped showing up in windows and at the same time the motherboard is taking a ridiculous time to post. if I look in the bios the hard drive is there, but when I boot up windows its missing. i opened up disk management and it asks me to initialize a new disk and i press ok then it says the drive is too small to be initialized as gpt. any idea what the problem is?

Sounds like the drive is failing/has failed.
