Harddrive to new PC

Hello I was wondering I have a trial version of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit which I've been using for over a year now with a re arming tool however I have just bought a new build and wish to use my old hard drive. Is it possible to just stick it in and away I go as I don't want to have to buy a new version of windows I don't have to?

Not asking for assistance with the version of windows I just want to know if it's possible before I go and spend money on a new one. I'm talking in general terms.

What would be better for gaming windows 8 64bit or windows 7 home or professional or ultimate 64 bit. I'll purchase tommorow

Windows 8/8.1, or Windows 7 Home Premium. 64bit in either case.
Personally, I'd go with Win 8/.1.

Zero need for Win 8 Pro, or Win 7 Pro or Ultimate.
