Hardware from different countries

Hi.
In the interest of purchasing second hand parts off ebay; I was wondering if parts from other countries are compatible with one another. eg. Will a core i7 purchased from America work with my socket 1366 asrock motherboard purchased here in Australia?

Might sound like a stupid question, but I know that some games and movies are encoded to work in certain machines in different regions of the world.

Also, what's everyone's favourite hardware brands? corsair? Antec? Assus? etc.

Don't worry about the parts; worry about eBay! I would not recommend buying used electronic parts because of the lack of warranties. Caveat Emptor!

My favorites are Intel for CPUs, EVGA for motherboards and video cards, Corsair for PSUs and RAM, Cooler Master for cases.
