Okay, first topic here - but a longtime reader. Got many solutions here.

Now I have an issue which tests my skills, so thought of asking it directly.
Case is that yesterday evening, my pc internals got wet - a leaking aircooler unit was on it and suddenly noticed a pool of water around my case. Just regular tap water was leaking through the 200mm fan op top alongside my cables onto my GPU, where it stayed. Strange thing was, that my PC didnt give a damn, ist still worked.

But of course I immediately pulled power, and started to clean everything with a piece of cloth.
Now after that, I booted without dGPU and system ran fine on the iGPU. So apparently, most parts are undamaged. But the dGPU in question wouldn't play ball, with that in it system runs for half a second then shuts. Does that mean something is shorted? Seems weird, because there wasn't any problem until i shut it down myself.

So thats problem one, an unwilling GPU. I left it on my desk during the night and now its resting inside a rice bath, since that seems to help.

Problem two, which is actually bigger, is that my PCI-E ports no longer give image with other GPUs. System does boot with other cards in it, all fans work, but i dont have image output / video on my screen. Same goes for both PCI-E ports. I also noticed some copper corrosion residue (the green stuff) in the slot, so tried to remove that as good as I can. I have some electronic contact spray lying around, but afraid to spray that in since it makes it all wet again.
What can I do to get PCI-E fully working again? Without that, the board is basically useless for me..
For now, I got the mobo out and lying outside in the sun..

The problem is the PCI-E slot, not the GPU.
Sounds like the motherboard is gone.

Solution
Well, they do work now. Guess the contactspray and the heat of power flowing through brought them back to life. So the PCI-E issue is resolved, as it seems, back to the dead card.
