Hardware Monitor not displaying DIMMs

I recently swapped from 4x 2GB DIMMs @ 1600 Mhz for a single 8GB DIMM @ 1866. I did this because next month I plan on getting my second 8 GB DIMM installed @ 1866 Mhz. I run an AMD FX chip so if I want 1866 I can only run 1 or 2 DIMMs. So my question is this: after I changed the memory it stopped displaying in my hardware monitor, can anyone tell why? I have run my memory check and everything is running fine, well, even faster than before, lol. I do like to monitor my hardware as I am running my machine to make sure nothing fails. The 2GB DIMMs were Kingston HyperX Genesis 1866 modules(would not run @ 1866 w/ out crashes) the newly installed DIMM is Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB 1866. Thanks!

I am running an AMD FX8350 on an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0. My BIOS is not the latest BIOS, I am running version 1503. At stock settings right now, until I finish setting up.

Part 2 of the question concerns clock speeds. With 1866 DIMMs, can I clock up to that speed and run stable, or can I set my speed to 1866 and then clock it up from there? When I clock it up from 1866 it sets it to around 1960-2040 depending on how aggressive I shoot for. Seems to not be stable over the 1866 mark though. Or if I drop my voltage a few points would I be good running them clocked above 1866?

I'd go ahead and update the BIOS first thing, it prob has DRAM updates in it, (most all are full of them), then work from there, with the latest BIOS should be able to enable DOCP, EOCP or XMP whichever DRAM profiling it uses and select 1866, once that stable (might take some voltage adjustments), cna try OCing it higher, would count on a lot 😉

Do you recommend using my BIOS update from a flash drive? Or direct through web connection? EUFI lists both as options. Just not sure which I would trust to get the job done correctly. Also, do you think I should disconnect any unnecessary hardware before doing so, such as USB devices and other HDDs not being used?

Back, after BIOS update. Maybe it's just me but BIOS updating scares me, lol. More than any other aspect of working on my PC. If my mobo bricks then that would just be a nightmare. Anyway, BIOS update was successful and I am now running most current version. I use OpenHardwareMonitor to show my hardware readings, still is not displaying my new RAM. The RAM that I got is not on my QVL, it does seem to be stable and running fine. I'm assuming that since it is not on my QVL it may not display. It seems to be hard to find 1866 DIMMs from my QVL at a reasonable price(probably the popular item now). Thanks for the help, going to try some OC later this weekend!
