Hardware monitoring programs do not detect motherboard or CPU temperatures

Hello!

Over the summer I upgraded my hardware to an i7-8700k which obviously came with an upgrade in motherboard (MSI Z370-A PRO) and RAM (Corsair Vengence DDR4). My system has been fine however, a couple months ago speecy stopped detecting the temperature of the CPU and the motherboard. I didn’t think much of it and went on for awhile before downloading HWMonitor and Speedfan to see if the temperatures would show there. They did for a short amount of time but stopped about a day later.

I did a fresh install on my system (as I like to do every so often) last month and after I was done, realized that the problem might actually be fixed with a clean install and it was for two days before reverting back to not displaying temperatures.

When I boot up the bios of the MB the temperature is shown (usually around 28C), but nothing translate to the desktop. I’m assuming this is a software error but, hopefully someone could help me figure out what’s actually going on! Thank you!

Solution
Yes, the problem related to these software, may try to update the chipset driver ( you can get the driver from MSI site) first, then try again to use these software.

Or try other software, like HWiNFO https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
