[SOLVED] Hardware RAID on different chipsets

So, i have 2 980 Pros with PCIE gen4, but 1 is on CPU and the other is on PCH. This is running on a 11700k with a z490 godlike mobo. As of right now i cannot get the bios to detect them both as raid capable. Im wondering if this is due to them being on different chipsets. Id ideally like to get RAID 0 on both of them, but am unsure of how to proceed. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Based on the details from the motherboard page there should be a way to make a RAID 0 out of those drives.

Intel® Z490 Chipset
  • Supports RAID 0, RAID1, RAID 5 and RAID 10 for SATA storage devices
  • Supports RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5 for M.2 PCIe storage devices
We know that it supports RAID across all 3 M.2 slots due to the ability to do RAID 5 for PCIe storage devices. My guess is you would have to run the CPU storage device in PCIe 3.0 mode to be able to run RAID since the other slots are only PCIe 3.0 compatible.

3x M.2 slots (Key M)
  • M2_1 slot
    CPU support mode (From 11th Gen Intel® CPU only)- supports PCIe 4.0 x4/3.0 x4
    Chipset support...

All that being said why do you want to run RAID 0 with your SSDs? In reality you end up halving the life span of the drives for very minimal benefit.

hmm well theres no point in raid in pcie3 as it caps at half the speed of gen4. i might have to skip it i guess. nbd. thanks for the input
