I've been thinking about getting a 144hz monitor, but I obviously don't wanna do that if my PC can't handle it. I think it might be able to but I'm not sure.
Intel i5-6600K
Gigabyte GTX 970
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
16GB RAM

Is this enough for 144fps on the most recent games? (witcher 3, battlefront, rainbow 6 siege, etc.)?
I'm okay with lowering some settings to increase framerate, as long as it's not everything on low. I want games to look good, they just don't have to look great.

at 1080p and low settings with zero AA you should get 120+fps.
all the benchmarks i've seen with the 970 show it getting ~60fps at 1080p near ultra settings with most newer games. you add another 84 frames per second to that and you'll need at least twice as much power.
check for videos online of low settings and see what they are claiming fps-wise.

i would recommend getting at least an 8GB 390X or more likely a 980 for it.
