I have had this problem since I bought the computer parts and put it together. When starting my computer I will either have 16gb RAM or 8gb RAM with 8GB hardware reserved. It is random, there is no reason for it. I have tried installing my RAM in every configuration possible (including the recommended by my motherboard) and they are seated properly. I have run memory tests and there is nothing wrong with my memory, the computer is fairly new, approximately 8 months old. My specs are as follows:
CPU: FX-8320
RAM: Two sticks of PNY 12800H 8GB
GPU: R9 290 XFX
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P Revision 1.0
Here is some photos of the task manager showing the Hardware Reserved (and recognizing there is 16GB of ram):
Here are photos from CPU-Z:
any ideas? my next action was to just buy 2 more sticks... and hope for the best, cause I need the RAM for school as a software designer
