Hi everyone I have a PC with these specs:

MSI A68HM-E33
2x4gb ram 1600mhz Kingston Hyperx Fury
Athlon x4 860K
240gb ssd and 500gb hdd
GPU= Palit GTX 1050 ti

Now the problem is my memory usage is 3.9gb and 4.1gb as shown in my Task Manager and I have tried solutions in the web (msconfig, No paging File, even switching my ram to my 2 channel ram slots) and unfortunately nothing works.

I also notice that when I still have my amd a4-7300 in my pc.. my PC is using my 8gb ram and a normal amount for hardware reserved. So I tried mounting it again and it really showed 8gb ram and a normal hardware reserved.

Solution
did you run memtest? Given you keep answering I have to assume not since it takes several hours to test a stick
do both sticks work and show same totals? if you swap them in the sockets, does it make any difference?
Similar case, no solution -- https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/8-00gb-3-94gb-usable-help.2644470/

is bios seeing the ram? Have you got newest bios for motherboard?

I thought this was you but mb is slightly different - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...dfd-83eb-4a19-899a-a32cb257fea8?auth=1&page=2 - same swap, same cpu to cpu, same problem. No solution there.

So many cases of that CPU with 8gb and only allowing 3.9.

You will never have all the ram on a stick, so even if it let you use all the ram, it wouldn't be 8gb. 3.9gb is about right for 1 stick being seen.

is this win 10 as it might be that it only using 1 stick as other is buggy. its more sensitive to ram complaints to previous windows

Try running memtest86 on each of your ram sticks, one stick at a time, up to 4 passes. Only error count you want is 0, any higher could be cause of the BSOD. Remove/replace ram sticks with errors. Memtest is created as a bootable USB so that you don’t need windows to run it

Okay I understand but my old amd a4-7300 can read my 2x4gb ram with the same Windows as I'm currently using right now.
I only have 2 channels and 2 identical rams and had no issues until I upgraded my cpu from amd a4-7300 to athlon 860K ?

thx for the responses, every tip would be appreciated

Yes, its in the same motherboard and I change my cpu and gpu since the athlon x4 doesn't have integrated gpu

i would check sticks then as its not GPU eating it, its shared is only 2gb and on a 64bit system that never eats into your physical ram.

I would also turn page file back on as it doesn't have anything to do with hardware reserved. With no page file, and only 3.9gb of ram, you will run out of memory a lot faster, and get memory errors. SO turn it back on, it is what is making the missing ram less obvious.

Since you swapped CPU and it worked before that, check pins on CPU and see if any are bent?

about the cpu pins ive checked them carefully and there arent pins that are bent except those very little portions of thermal paste clinged to my cpu pins

I found out the problem.. Since ive been switching up my cpu's my a4-7300 and athlon 860K I only noticed that my a4-7300 can read both 2 sticks while my athlon 860K wont read both so then I tried using my friends ram stick and switched my 2nd ram slot to his ram stick IT DOESNT READ IT but when I put my friends stick to my 1st slot and putting my ram stick to 2nd slot it read my friends ram stick but mine didnt.

So maybe its a faulty cpu? (there are no bent pins)
