Hi guys
i just wanted to ask if this setup will be good
my specs right now:
i3 6100
gtx 760 2gb
8 gb ddr4
so im going to buy a new gpu from a friend r9 380 4 gb for 70 € (good price?)
and then im going to buy a i5 6500 or 6600k wanted to ask if there is any big difference in this 2 cpus and wanted to ask if the r9 380 is a good enough gpu for new games
games that i play a lot :
csgo , lol, player unknowns, COD(not much), bf1, bf 4, bf3, and some more games
thx in advance guys :)

Hmm, did u actually follow up on those threads?[this prob is for 14nm dies, meaning both 6700k and 7700k] and also, have u noticed many ppl who r buying a 7700k here including a thermal paste and ppl recommending a better cooler than the most recommended H212? its cuz ppl know 7700k runs hot and needs better cooling than the i5. also, did u know the term silicon lottery? these r just the terms any custom pc builder has to face.

u wont see me recommending a H212 cooler for 7700k[if u see above, i recommended the slightly better h7 even for that i5] and nor is it recommended for a custom builder who is going for a z mobo with xmp rams to stay at stock settings.

those spike related probs r inconsistent TIM application[silicon lottery...
I currently have an i5 6500 paired with an rx 480. I have never had any problems with this processor running games like Doom 3 or Mass Effect Andromeda on high settings, 1080, >100 fps. If my processor is bottlenecking my GPU, I haven't noticed. I'm no expert, but I suspect the 6500 would be plenty for the r9 380.

If you have the money to spare, the 6600k will give you overclocking ability, if you are interested in that. It will definitely outperform the 6500, and is probably a better investment for the future.

na my mobo is a non overclockable but can i buy an 7600k and put it in an non overklockable mobo ?
when i might consider it and in like 2 or 3 monts i will buy an z mainboard

and i looked up some videos the i5 6500 and the i5 7500 are nearly the same but i live in austria and they are the smae price so obv i could buy i5 7500 and i watched some videos for the i5 6600k and the i5 7600k the i5 6600k peformed better hmm

the best prices in austria
i5 6500 201€
i5 6600k 233€
i5 7500 197€
i5 7600k 238€

didn´t even know that a i5 7500 or 600 exist lol
are they better then the 6500 and 6600k ?
the i5 7500 is 10 € cheaper then 6500 lol

you mean i5 7600k right cant find a i5 7700k
the sockel of the cpu is 1151 right ?

Question from GuTmAnNnN : "Cpu change pls help"

Most H110, B150, H170, and Z170 boards need a bios update for kaby lake. Since you already have a skylake CPU you can update the BIOS to support kaby lake before you remove your old chip, so this is no problem.

If you don't have a Z170/Z270 then you can't overclock so you may want to go with an i5-7500 instead and save a little bit. You can still go with the 7600K if you want a bit higher clockspeed.

but im going to a overclockable motherboard in 1 or 2 months

6500 vs 7500

6600k vs 7600

I don't know what your prices are in Austria, but, if they are proportional to US pricing, the 6600k seems to be the best value if you are interested in overclocking in the future. If you never intend to overclock, the 7600 seems like a great deal.

I will say again though, I have a 6500 paired with a rx 480, and I have no problems with that combo. It wouldn't be the best investment for the future, but if you found one on a great deal it would work well.

i5 6600k is 233 €
and the i5 6700k is 238€
and im going to buy an z motheroard in like 2 or 3 months

the 7700k is an i7. the 7600k might not last long enough. but the 7700k with higher clock speed and hyperthreading will last longer than the i5 7600k.

There are some issues with 7700K currently better to go 6700K instead, but OP does not need an i7, i5 will be just fine for their gaming needs.

just stating that if he can send more on a mobo again, better do it now and keep the best. u cant upgrade to anything above a 7700k and will last longer with the hyperthreading. u dont have to worry abt a cpu for 3-4 years if OP has a 7700k. but thats not the case in 7600k.

and whats this u r saying abt 7700k having some issues?

He doesn't need hyper threading for gaming thats ridiculous, a few select games benefit from it but will still be fine withe i5. The i5 variant will be viable for just as long as it's i7 brethren. The OP asked whether or not to go for a 6600k or non K. he didn't mention an i7 and doesn't need one either....
There were reports of problems with the thermal sensor in some 7700K, better to know what you recommend before you recommend. The 7700k is just a refresh of the 6700k anyway. The 6700K runs a lot cooler.

OP go with the 6600K it will be faster even not overclocked and will sell better.

Hmm, did u actually follow up on those threads?[this prob is for 14nm dies, meaning both 6700k and 7700k] and also, have u noticed many ppl who r buying a 7700k here including a thermal paste and ppl recommending a better cooler than the most recommended H212? its cuz ppl know 7700k runs hot and needs better cooling than the i5. also, did u know the term silicon lottery? these r just the terms any custom pc builder has to face.

those spike related probs r inconsistent TIM application[silicon lottery and hence many ppl going for a thermal paste/delidding].

regarding i5 or i7, plz check the latest benchmarks on AAA titles. i think we can agree than DX12 will change how games will use CPU.[y i am saying this is, like OP mentioned 6600k - 233 bucks and 6700k - 238 bucks? thats a crazy good value for 6700k !]

Solution

going to buy the 6700k thx to you all guys :)

Save your condescension it means nothing to me, its just a reflection of your poor character. The problem was not with the tim under IHS or above it, it is a thermal sensor misread, it didn't effect all perhaps but certainly affected a lot of them. I have personally delidded one and it still had spikes..Besides which logic says if temperatures are okay before and after spikes, then how would the tim be badly placed ?This did not happen with any of the 6700K's that I have seen or heard of. I graduated with honours from DIT with a bachelors degree in computer science in 2001 and have been working as an engineer ever since, so I have 16 years of experience within the industry, I certainly would not ill advice someone, nor would I try to give an uneducated answer simply for badges or placements ona forum such as this. I share my knowlede because I like to help others. tldr grow up

all CPUs have spikes. the 7700k is just a very hot cpu. but nothing a good overclocker cant fix. u should have read in forums how some user set their own voltage offset calibration and did away with mobo giving higher volts and heating the cpu.
and regarding the delidd, i just said it brings down the temps a lot. inconsistent tim does takes place a lot nowadays. thats more apparent in 14nm cpu. and that really affects temps.
yes, agreed thermal sensors r faulty in some 7700k ,but going with a z270, u can fix it 😉
