My motherboard is Gigabyte M61PME-S2 (pretty old I know!!) with Realtek ALC662 and I was wondering if a low-budget sound card like Asus Xonar DG would make any difference to the sound quality. As I mentioned, I'm using the Harman Kardon Soundsticks III for movies and music only, no gaming at all.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/creative-labs-sound-card-70sb155000001 - $49.99 - my suggestion. Sound Blaster Z sound cards come with software and really do pack a punch for a sound card, I remember using these to compose music on, great sound card and nifty for the price too.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-sound-card-xonardsx - $42.99

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-sound-card-xonardgx - your suggestion.

My budget is tight for now and I can't buy a whole new motherboard, so the asus xonar dg would produce clearer sound??

That would be perfect, but please keep in mind the budget!!

The first one costs 72$ in my country, the second one 50$ and I'm considering it, the third cheapest one 30$ and the last one doesn't exist here!! I'm not the audiophile type so I'm going to buy the cheapest one and if I notice great difference I will then buy something good. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help!!
