Has anyone ever fixed a fan before?

Hi people. I have an MSI GS70 notebook that I'm currently having a sanity-twisting problem with, and I need some help.

Before we start, I need to let you know I've covered all my basis. Warranty is still valid, however I cannot send it in because I need a PC at all times for school. I'm experienced in fixing problems related to hardware but never to the internals of moving parts.

Basically, depending on the conditions, my notebook's CPU fan will make a seriously gut-wrenching rattle noise. It drives me INSANE and I'm sure it doesn't mean well for the fan.

Here's a link to the recording I took of the actual noise.

And here's a guide to the audio file:
Start to 20s : Warm Idle
28s to 44s : Cold startup
50s to 1m 55s : Slight load then back to idle
2m to End : Warm idle, then slight tap to get rid of noise. It comes back a few seconds later.

Now, big problem with this whole situation is the replacement fan is nearly $100 shipped. Not only can I not afford it (being a student) but I also am not sure of the quality and how long the replacement will last. There are many other people with the exact issue as me, and they have sent it in for RMA, only to have MSI's techs send it back and say there's nothing wrong.

So question is, can I somehow dismantle the actual fan and repair it? Is this even possible? I've tore down this notebook before, so there's no problem in getting to the culprit.

If worse comes to worse, I'll either have to suck it up and use headphones or dish out the cash for a new one.

Thanks in advanced everyone.
