Has Gigabit Internet, Capped at 100 mbps

Hello,

Computer noob here, so please be gentle.
I just started gigabit internet from Comcast.
The ISP technician confirmed that I am getting the gigabit speed.
Unfortunately on my desktop ethernet connection, I am only getting about 100mbps down on speed test.
After doing some research (reading up posts about similar issues), I discovered that my link speed using ethernet is capped at 100mbps with 'Auto Negotiation.'

I'm using the provided ISP modem from Comcast.
I have a cat 6 cable that should be capable of handling gig speed (and I don't think it broke).

I have a z370 gaming plus mobo with i5-8400 and Gtx 1070 (not sure if this matters).

Should I buy a Cat 7 cable to test if it's the ethernet problem?
If that fails should I buy a PCIE Network Adaptor and install it on my mobo.
Could it be that my driver is out of date?

I'm pretty lost. Please help how to fix the speed so I can get the speed I pay for.

Buy a regular cat5e or cat6 cable (round one) Just run it over the carpet. If your speed improves, which I bet it will, then your flat cable is not doing the job.
