Question Has My GPU Given Up?

I have a Geforce GTX 970 that is around 4 and a half years old, as are the rest of the PC components.
Started having issues a few months back when the signal to the monitor would cut off during gaming. I have a feeling that it was due to the GPU being pushed to a certain level. For one particular game I was able to reduce the graphics settings a bit and run the game without issue. It was only gaming that would cause this issue, general use was fine.

It's happened again with other games though, and yesterday the monitor straight up didn't recognise the computer at all. The computer is now unusable. The monitor to GPU cable is secure at both ends so that can't be the issue.

Is it likely my GPU has bitten the dust, or maybe it's the PSU?

list all parts and your system could use internal video from mobo if yes remove gpu to test .

16GB RAM
1TB Western Digital Blue Hard Drive

I can get the screen functioning by plugging into the motherboards DVI. I removed the GPU and put it in again, still not working.

Does it seem like the GPU has died?

Any ideas?
