Has my hard drive failed

I was watching youtube & my screen just went white,blank.I shut everything down & tried to restart windows but I just get the white blank screen.I've saved everything to a external disk including a system image but if I plug this in nothing happens,just the white screen

It must be something else if you can't see BIOS screen.
