Haswell build critique? My first gaming pc ever

Solution
I have to say that your build is an excellent for gaming. You have good part choice and good use of savings as well.

You could do with a wee bit smaller of a psu but it isn't an issue seeing as you are getting a bargain price on a very good power supply.

Also note that most gaming builds have more money into the gpu than cpu, due to the fact that games will not use your cpu very intensely.

It would be wise to consider rearranging the system budget to fit a more powerful gpu.

Solution
Everything is compatible. Just some tips -
1. Get a better GPU like a 7870XT or 7950.
2. Get Windows 7 if gaming has the highest priority. Windows 8 is the worst OS to game on.
3. For better performance , I would recommend a SSD like the Samsung 840. It will help in booting quickly , and load stuff much quicker. I have ordered one 840 120GB for my build. Will tell its performance once I get it.

Good build and great combo right there.

Well my max budget is like $990 so this is already 947 the 3570k build with the same gpu is like 990. To put more money into a gpu id have to lower the cpu to like a 3470 locked cpu or even a low end amd cpu which i hear all arent too good.

So while i know a better gpu is a good idea in my head i thought what would be easyer to upgrade in 2-3 years from now a GPu or a CPU and a mobo??? i figured it be best to skimp on the gpu now and get a top of the line cpu and mobo and possibly crossfire in the future or just get a better single card gpu later i was told that a 7870 could play about any game online at high to ultra settings and iv even youtubed alot of games i wana play on a 7870 and every video i see plays at high to ultra anyhow.

Would you recommend i lower the cpu and mobo to get a better gpu or stick to my original thinking of getting the newest and best cpu and mobo i can and a good mid range card like the 7870?

Do you have evidence for this claim? I'm discussing my new build in another thread, and over there, and in other forums, I found that opinion is fairly neutral over which version of Windows is better. I have certainly heard nothing about 8 being worse to game on. I'm curious as to why you think it is?

iv heard its neutral and actualy slightly favors windows 8 iv seen 2 dif youtube vids were they benchamrked on similr computer builds with windows 7 and windows 8 and windows 8 yielded like 1-5 more fps from most of the games i think but like one windows 7 did better (5 fps isint anything but its still tech better)

I would have to agree that windows 8 does have some issues running certain games. ie shogun total war 2.

But it's not a huge thing like windows ME was.

So long as you know this, you're fine with keeping that cpu. As you said, you can always upgrade the gpu later.

Yep, theres not all that much difference. Although I'm no fan of the Metro theme in Win8 I think I'll put it in my new system. The upcomgin Win8.1 upgrade will address a lot of complaints and it will only improve over time/be supported for longer. I see no compelling reason to choose Win7 over Win8.

iv been told theres a few programs or apps you can download to make windows 8 seem like 7 with a start menu and all agian so you can kinda avoid the whole meto thing
