Hi everyone
I have two corsair vengeance 4gb 1600mhz modules running in dual channel mode on an i7 4700 and asrock z87 extreme3 .I saw in the bios that the modules were running at 1333mhz and i had to enable xmp profile to run them at 1600mhz.I thought that the intel haswell processors officially supported memory upto 1600mhz then why didn't these modules run at 1600mhz by default???

Solution
When new DRAM is added to a mobo, it generally always goes to the mobos default - and the mobos default is generally now 1333 on Intel mobos and therefore actually consider the NATIVE speed - the SPD simply provides info on what the manuafacture considers the best timings and settings for the DRAM at different freqs - it's up to the BIOS to take that info and apply it as best as possible

Okay so now i see it that by default the spd speed is set and the tested speed has to be set up maunually in the bios.
