Have 6 pin but gpu needs 8 pin

I plan on ordering the gtx 1070 and I saw that it required an 8 pin connector but I only have a 6 pin connector what do I do? I was told that i need some sort of adapter but they were vague and I am not entirely sure what it is I am looking for. Please help

You need a new PSU. A good RM650X or EVGA SuperNOVA 650 or the 750W versions will do good.

• NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. (Minimum system power requirement based on a PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz 130 Watt TDP processor.)
• the system power supply must also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 28 Amps or greater
• the system power supply should also have at least one 150-Watt 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector. There are some non-reference design cards that require one 75-Watt 6-pin and one 150-Watt 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors (e.g. MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8 GB).

That power supply has three 6+2 pin PCIe connectors.

And if you're mathematically challenged, 6+2 = 8, so you use this connector for your GPU.

It should have at least one 75-Watt 6-pin and one 150-Watt (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors (older model P1-550S-XXB9) or it should have two 150-Watt (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors (models: newer P1-550S-XXB9, P1-550S-Gren, P1-550G-TS3X, P1-550B-BEFX).

Where's the problem?
