I have noticed recently at random times that the volume will decrease a bit while listening to music on my 2ch hi fi setup (well mid fi really) and was wondering of anyone could explain what would cause this to happen? The cd player I use is bran new and my amp is barley 2 years old as well as my speakers, so I'm assuming there not the cause tho it could be, I was thinking may be a drop in voltage could cause this? but I'm far from an expert on the subject, thx 2 anyone who takes the time to read this

If your ac voltage drops it could cause a loss of volume. If you have a voltmeter you could plug it in to the same outlet as the amp and see if you notice a dip. A VOM is pretty cheap and very useful so getting one is worth while.
If you have a UPS around for you PC you could try using it on the stereo to stabilize the voltage.
If the amp is running hot that could also affect the volume but usually it would shut down if overheating.
