Have a gtx 770 4gb should i upgrade to 1070 or 1080 ?

Hey guys I currently running a gtx 770 4gb and it play my games alright but starting to show its age now with the 144hz monitor that I recently brought, so just wondering to pay at better fps and better frame rate is the 1080 really worth it for the price or would I be better off getting the 1070 ? I would want the 1080 if I needed 144fps for my monitor to perform at its best. I have 2 980TIs and I think this junk is too slow for 144hz, so I haven't taken the plunge on a 144hz monitor myself.

Get the 1080.
144HZ needs more power to run smoothly.

depends on your resolution a 1920x1080 panel aiming for 144 fps requires 2 gpus I tried on a 2560x1440 p monitor didn't do too good , only gotten 60 80 fps 1080 p maybe better results but gotten 2 gtx 1070s and slied them have no issues reaching the 144 fps range price performance ratio will justify over the gtx 1080 by a big margin 35-40 % I added 2 gtx 1070s to run on my 4k monitor reaching over 100 fps
