Hi!
So I have a system that I believe runs well, however the performance in games isn't quite what I feel it should be, given the benchmarks I've seen for my GPU. Here are my specs:
600W PSU
AMD FX-6300 CPU (Overclocked to 4.3GHz with a Corsair H100i liquid cooler)
PowerColor R9-290 (unlocked BIOS to match performance of R9-290X. Also have an aftermarket cooler, the Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV)
Kingston V300 240GB SSD (primary boot drive. Running Windows 10 64-bit)
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB storage drive
MSI 970GA-G43 Motherboard
12GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
I am wondering if upgrading my CPU to an FX-8350 or greater would be worth my money, as I've seen my same GPU get higher fps in other systems I've seen on youtube.
Also, if your suggestion is to buy a new motherboard for a new socket, that would be a more long-term solution, and one I would consider down the road, but I'm tight on money right now, and I don't really want to pay for a new CPU AND a new motherboard. Any advice on this issue at all would be appreciated. Thanks!!
