There will be a new chipset specifically for Coffee Lake called Z370. One if the big reasons to upgrade will be the new features found on this series of boards. Could they possible extend some sort of backwards support to Z270? Maybe. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

WCCFTech is the last site to believe for anything.
i recently read this http://wccftech.com/intel-coffee-lake-8th-gen-core-i7-8700k-performance-specs-leak/ and it sounds like it may actually be compatiable. reason i am wondering is because at somepoint i want to update my motherboard so i can overclock or have a faster speed but also want it to be compatable with the gen8 chips
