Question Have I bought the wrong SSD for this Gemini NC14 laptop? Or if not, how do I get it recognised?

Hi,
I've bought a Gemini NC14 laptop which comes with 32GB of internal storage. I'd like to add a 256GB SSD but the one I've bought doesn't appear to be recognised in either BIOS, Windows 10, or GPARTED.

This is the laptop https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0764HSC5K/
This is the SSD https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07N8Z1STZ/

I've played with all the BIOS settings to try and get the disk recognised. The BIOS has a specific NVME section which just reports "No NVME device found".

I've reseated the SSD twice, just in case.

Some of the postings I've read suggest that an NVME device is not the same as an M.2 device, but others suggest it is not relevant.
I'm "building" this for a friend on a tight budget, but who needs more than 32GB of storage.

So, have I bought the wrong disk?

The only difference in M.2 SSDs is that there are two different types of M.2 protocols/interface:
NVME and SATA
If the BIOS itself has an option with "NVME", the port should support the NVME SSD without problems.
If not, the SSD is faulty or incompatible to the current BIOS version of the laptop´s motherboard. Couldn´t find an updated version for this laptop.

Also have a look at the controller chip on the SSD, if it´s really the nvme chip on the product picture
SM2263XT
could be fraud as well

Thanks - I did suspect the BIOS at first until I saw the NVME option, but the BIOS is actually pretty old (in computer terms anyway) at April '18. Like you, I couldn't find a more up to date version available, so I'm guessing that maybe that would fix it if I could.

In all honesty, I might just buy a SATA 2242 SSD to see if that resolves it. It's only ~£20 so I can take the hit and sell it on / reuse it if it doesn't resolve

Thanks for your input
