I have been trying to fix a broken graphics card and I tried it in my machine today. it didnt work, but now when I put my old graphics card back in that doesn't work either! (it was working absolutely fine before).

the fans are not moving so it does not look like its getting any power.

I have checked the cables and the card is connected to the power supply fine. I have also changed it over for another card and that does not work either.

the only thing I can think of is that I have broken the pcie slot on the board while ive been swapping them round, but I thought id ask here if you have any other ideas before I start looking for a new z270 board...

Do you have other PCIe slots on your motherboard? If so then try those. Atleast try and see if your card will work in the other slots.

You can also try using the GPU in a friend's PC or in a spare PC that you have lying around but make sure the PSU can take it. Take these steps to come to a final conclusion that if your PCIe slot is broken.

yeah, the problem is that I have a small case and only dual slot cards so I cant use the bottom slot. I disassembled it though and bench tested the board and It works in the 4x slot at the bottom so it looks like I have definitely busted my only usable pcie slot... I could buy a bigger case, but it probably makes more sense to get a new board. *sigh* how much is a z270 board these days?
