I have my tower with a motherboard that has a AMD CPU socket. I have a laptop I don't use anymore that has an Intel Core I7.

Now I would like to know if it's possible to connect the laptop to my tower and have my tower use the laptop CPU.

Note: This may be a very stupid question, but I'm just curious to if it's at all possible.

Solution
Nope. Not only are the brands different (AMD vs Intel) you cannot just connect a laptop to another computer and share it’s resources. The only way this works is with servers and virtualization which you do not have.

If you were specifically asking if you could take your CPU out of your laptop and plop it into your tower then that will not work either. AMD is completely incompatible with Intel and vice versa. The sockets and chipsets and drivers will just never work together.

Solution
1. competitor cpus do not fit each other motherboards
2. a desktop cpu and laptop cpu use two different die's (ie 3770 and 3770m) the M stands for mobile cpu.3. if you look at compatible cpus for your motherboard you will see NONE are xxxxM listed, why because they do not fit.
