Hi guys, so i'm having an issue lately with my rig and i cannot wrap my head around this.

So for a while i'd had to press my power button twice to boot my pc, it did boot it seemed like, and my monitors did recognize that there was a signal coming to them, but they still said no signal.
After pressing the power button again, the computer turns off instantly, and when trying to boot again it boots correctly, and everything works just fine.

Yesterday i decided to reinstall my Win10 and everything got worse.

Now, i'm lucky if the PC even boots at all!
I have to try to boot about 10 times before it does boot, and of course, when it boots it works just fine.
The experience is the same as earlier, the displays recognize that they recieve a signal, and turns on. but no display.

When i was reinstalling windows it took me many times to boot even then.

My CPU IS overclocked to 4.5 at about 1.270 volts, which has been stable for me.
I'll try to reset CMOS after i get home, but i am still wondering if anyone have any idea what the issue might be.

Can anyone help me?

My specs and config is below:

i7 4790k
Referance gtx 980
MSI z97i AC
samsung 850PRO 250GB SSD
4TB WD Purple HDD
2x extra 250gb ssd's for games and such.

Let me know if you need any more info and thanks in advance!!

That sucks :( It could be a issue with your motherboard. Clearing CMOS sounds like a good start, also you could look for a BIOS update online.

You could also check if the fault is with the physical button on your case. You can do that by locating the pins on your mobo, that controls the powerbutton. That should stated be in your motherboard manual. Just unplug the wires, short the two pins with a screwdriver or some other metal. If it turns on just fine, then it is likely a problem with the power button, or wires leading to it. Otherwise it is a hardware problem, probably with the motherboard.

Whats your PSU make/model ?
How old is that build, any parts second hand ?
Also how much RAM do you have, what make/model and clock rate ?

Sorry about that, forgot it :p

PSU: Cooler Master G650M, 650W PSU

RAM: HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz 8GB Black

All parts ordered late 2014, all completely new, no second-hand

that is actually a good question, as stated in my post i have had an issue with having to press power button twice for a while now (4 months ish?)

But after resetting windows yesterday, i have to try at least 10 tims before it boots, but when its booted it works perfectly.

Do you have another PSU to test with ?
Try to remove OC on CPU, down clock your ram too if you have OC'ed it.
If theres no difference, remove GPU to see if you lower the load@start if that will make any difference.
Check MB for bulked caps, are you using mini tower ?
It leans to PSU/MB.
If you have another PSU to test, would be great.

Hi.

Thanks for that, i do plan on doing some more testing when i get home, and i do have nother PSU i can test with (only 500w).

This is a mini tower-build (ish)
My case is caselabs mercury s3 and its not tightly packed at all, still a large-ish case.
I'm thinking i'll start with removing the OC, (memory is not OC'd) and then proceed to remove the GPU.

Thanks!
