Having an external hard drive for razer blade stealth to game on

For the new razor blade stealth coming out with the i7-7500u kayaked, I was wondering if I could get the 128gb or 256gb version for cheaper. Then to game with the external GPU, I could have my games on an external hard drive and play form there. That make sense? External GPU and external HDD for the games. How or can I do that?

If you're going through all that work, expense, and non-portability, why not just a desktop?
