Having ECC and non-ECC ram

Can I have ECC ram on one channel and non-ECC ram on another channel?

You either have all ECC RAM or have to turn ECC off.

Probably not. Even if the motherboard supports ECC ram, combining it with Non-ECC may not work. Some servers are said to be able to use either type of RAM but not both at the same time... so PC motherboards that support ECC RAM, are even less likely to support both RAM types at the same time.
