Hey everyone.
I recently was curious about windows 10, and I just upgraded my board, processor, and video card. So I decided to do a fresh install of 10. I have heard mix reviews on it, but I wanted to tinker with it and see what it was all about.
Upon installing everything and getting it going, I am now attempting to get files off of one of my internal drives, but it is telling me "The File or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
Just before I upgraded my pc, I was running my old board on Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit). I have an SSD boot drive, and 5 other internal hard drives for mass storage (not raided). Knowing I was getting a new motherboard and would have to do a fresh install, I started backing up some files from my SSD drive to one of the internal drives. While I was running Windows 7 on my old setup, I was able to access these files off the drive without issues.
Now, I am on Windows 10 Pro (64bit), and it seems that a lot of the files I moved from the SSD to the other drive give me this "The File or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error message. Not every file does it, but most of them do. I don't have any issues access any other parts of that drive (so far), just the majority of the files I moved from the SSD when it was running Windows 7.
Basically, on the extra storage hard drive, I made a folder called 'SSD back up". I then did a drag and drop of all the files on the ssd I wanted to move to that drive. The files in that folder seems to load fine on Windows 7 before I upgraded my PC and installed 10.
Any ideas what could be causing this or what I can do to fix it so they can be accessed? I also noticed that there are certain folders and files I can not copy to any internal drive I have from an external drive. I will select a file or folder on my external USB drive, and do a drag and drop to an internal drive on the PC, but nothing happens. No error messages pops up, nothing gets copied, nothing really happens. Any ideas on what would be causing that?
Thanks in advance for any help!
