I've been trying to install Autodesk 3ds Max 2016 for a while now ever since I upgraded to Windows 10, and I've been getting when the installer attempts to install .NET 3.5. Attempting to install .NET 3.5 through the Programs & Features tab results in error code 0x800F081F, where 'Windows couldn't find the required files to complete the requested changes. Make sure you're connected to the Internet and try again.'

I've tried to install .NET 3.5 using the full package on Microsoft's website, but that results in the same exact error code.

I would suggest backing up your important data and doing a clean install of Windows 10, which will automatically activate now that you've done the update without the need for a product key (So skip that step during the installation) using the ISO file which can be downloaded from here, but don't use the step to create media, just download it:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

And then create USB or DVD media to install from using this tool with the ISO you downloaded:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

Using this method:

OR, go back to your prior OS version by doing a clean install of THAT operating system, install your .net package and applications, and THEN upgrade to Windows 10 with the .net version you need already installed.
