Question Having issues with shadows while watching videos / other forms of media.

Whenever I'm watching a video that has frames that are in the dark, I get weird pixelation that I can't seem to get rid of, no matter what, this doesn't happen when i'm playing games and whatever else.
Monitor / GPU specs :
ViewSonic VA2445 SERIES
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

Netflix, Youtube, Etc (Online), I'm really concerned as it's annoying but I don't want to have to buy a new PC part, I have another problem with my computer at the moment and can't figure that out either... I just want to figure out what's wrong so I can enjoy playing games and watching media again. 🙁

Up and down, didn't do anything, unless I did it wrong and have to restart my computer each time I adjust a setting

Ok so what I can gather is that the compression on the videos is at fault. Can you adjust the settings in Netflix etc for hd settings? Also is this your settings in Nvidia control panel under video color settings?> http://prntscr.com/obpolw

Also try using Nvidia video settings for color and video both tabs. It should take you out of generic windows settings and use Nvidia drivers maybe it will help.

I changed my settings all to the NVIDIA settings and switched the Dynamic range to full, I can't find any settings on Netflix to change the video quality.

Ok one last thing in Nvidia control settings, under change resolutions, towards bottom the is a tab that says rgb, click on that and you will change it to YcbCr422 and go up to refresh rate and make sure it is set at your monitor best refresh rate. See if that helps during video. Change it back when gaming.

I can't see the tab that says RGB, i'm in the "Change Resolutions" tab under 'Display" but all I can find is a list of the resolutions, a customize button and "Desktop color depth"

So as far as I can trll the blocky patterns are from video compression from source. All I can offer at this point is to turn down the backlighting/gamma/contrast to see if you can blend it as much as possible on your monitor.
