hi everyone! i need help with my motherboard because i'm getting the following problems:

1. Can´t select AHCI mode in BIOS- results in Bluescreen when booting Windows. ( Even if you change Name value to 0 in Hkey-localmachine[...]

2. DRAM in BIOS is shown as 1333hz even when selecting the right. (1600 HZ)

3. When Installing USB or MEI driver, after restarting PC all USB ports get deactivated- no way of doing anything. Only possibility is to either reinstall windows or to Recover.

4. After some weeks of running, PC fails to find Harddrive. Only way it actually finds the SSD is by pressing the MEMok Button onboard.

5. GTX 980 Strix oc ASus- loud Coil whine, specialy when playing games. Loudness depends where you look ingame. The higher FPS the higher the Coil whine. Limiting FPS to Monitor Hz doesnt help.

6. Hardware Manager shows problems for :

PCI-Communicationcontroller (simple)
SM BUS-Controller
Unknown Device
USB (Universal Serial Bus)- Controller

Can´t load/find drivers.
By installing e.g. the driver it results in Problem No. 3 -> Recover again.
Usb Devices like mouse, keyboard, headset are useable without driver so they´re not specially installed.

these are the CPU-Z specs of my pc.

Solution
1. no it doesnt
2. it runs at 1.5 V
3. No i didnt flash my bios yet. bios vers is at 0335. not sure if i should update it
4. not really
6. i didnt install anything at last recovery. except nvidia driver, lan driver, some windows updates

the OS is Windows 7 professional

Hardware:

RAM: 16GB-Kit Corsair Vengeance Low Profile black PC3-12800U CL9-9-9-24
Motherboard: ASUS H97-PRO, Sockel 1150, ATX
Graphiccard: ASUS STRIX-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD
Core: Intel Core i7-4790K Box, LGA1150
Case: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I
Core-fan: Be quiet! Dark Pro
Harddrive: SSD Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

1. Is it in windows 8 mode (UEFI)? Legacy will not work when the windows 8 features are turned on.

2. Is it at its specification voltage? Worse ram requires 1.65V but most modern boards defaults to 1.5V.

3. Have you updated your bios? And this may be able to be solved by uninstalling ALL the drivers under USB devices in device manager and reinstalling the USB driver.

4. Probably in legacy mode as from question 1

5. Return it asap if it can still be returned to the store. Coil wine is not fixable by the manufacturer. They do not see it as an issue. You cannot fix it yourself without voiding the warranty.

6. Try letting windows install the drivers automatically. Do not try to use the ones that came with your motherboard. Just open windows update and let it do the rest.

Solution
Thank you for the reply.

Currently you have a bios that was created far before most of your hardware come out. For example. the GTX 980 came out in September but your current bios is from May. I assume that is why CPU-Z only reads "Standard-VGA..." I recommend downloading the latest bios and updating. As I see it, bios 2510 is the latest on their website.

For the ram, if the bios update does not fix that, I do not know enough about ram to help you. Hopefully someone else can assist you. Best of luck.
