Hello all i'm just about at my wits end with this current issue im having. So about 4 months ago, My on board NIC was taken out by a small surge. So I opted into buying a new PCI NIC, I browsed around until I found the Intel Pro/1000 GT. I got it in and installed the hardware, but I kept getting a "No network connection" issue, so I called Intel and spent 3 hours on the phone with them trying everything they asked me to no avail, so then I called microsoft, and then my ISP, none of whom could give me any help at all. Desperate for internet I tethered my smartphone via USB and it worked like a charm, but this is only a temporary fix. I would prefer a hard line connection, and to use the NIC I spent good money on. I have tried many things from the standard "restart everything" to installing vista drivers for the NIC (i'm running win7). Could anyone please, please for the love of God help me in anyway, I feel hopeless and getting tired of having poopy tethered wifi when i'm trying to game. If you need any further details I would be more than happy to provide them!

So something silly to ask, did you switch the network cable from the onboard card to the new one? Because you don't know how many times I've seen people buy new video cards then post asking whey there is no display when they leave the monitor cable connected to the onboard video.

Did you try a different port on the router/switch and a new cable?

Is the card installed properly and showing up in Device Manager with no errors?

No I did not swap cables, but I have sort of a "Test Tower" that I have hooked it up to and It gets internet just fine, i've tried swapping the ports on the router several times with always the same error, and yes I have checked the card under device manager and it says it is enabled and working properly. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate someone trying to help haha 😀

Are there link lights on the card? Does it get an IP from the router (you can check by running ipconfig command from a dos prompt)?

If the card was new, exchange it and try a new one.

You can also try to reset TCP/IP with this command "netsh int ip reset" then reboot and try again.
