having probelms with 8 gb pendrive

i have a hp v210w 8gb pendrive, and i formatted it
after that when i was going to put a movie in its says not enough free space.
when i checked properties it says 383mb total space
i am sure i had 8gb before because i had stored files in it before. what do i do to get back the 8gb of space.

Youve probably already spent way more time than its worth trying to get it to work. 8gb USB drives can be bought for a few dollars.
