Having problems booting my windows 7 laptop

Hello,
Im having troubles booting my laptop with windows 7 as system.
It will not load/boot in normal mode, neither in any of the safe modes.
I can come untill windows\system32\DRIVERS\disk.sys where it stops. Hope someone can help me, and hopefully its not a hardware failure

No it is about 1-1,5 years old, but it havent been used so often

My daughters Gateway laptop is 1 year old exactly and she went to turn it on today... it will not detect windows or load in safe mode. Anxious to hear a solution as she is on her way to office depot...
