Hi, my 3.20 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X4 955 on a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 (Ver 1.5) running 32bit Win10 is ok for my requirements but with only 4GB RAM and a 500MB HDD I'm doing a cheapish upgrade to 8GB and a 2GB HDD which of course requires an update to 64bit windows.

Right or wrong I decided to install the new memory although I knew 32bit win10 would not use it, just to check that my system saw the memory and ran OK. It did.

I downloaded the Microsoft Media Creation Tool and used a USB drive to install the media to. Everything went fine. I rebooted with the USB drive attached and got three long beeps and a completely black screen. Removed the USB, still got the beeps. Left it all for about 20 minutes and then it booted OK into the original system

Removed the old HDD and installed the new one and tried booting from the USB drive with the WIN10 media on it and all worked ok. Got about 30 minutes into the installation and suddenly started getting the three beeps again. Removed the USB drive, replaced the new HDD with the original, stll got the beeps but again after about 20 minutes all ok again. Bit scary though! Don't really want to keep doing this!!

Anyone any suggestions on what I need to do please?

Thanks.

HDD: Seagate 2 TB BarraCuda 3.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive (7200 RPM, 256 MB Cache, SATA 6 Gb/s, Up to 220 MB/s, Model: ST2000DMZ08)

Crucial CT51264BD160B 4 GB (DDR3L, 1600 MT/s, PC3L-12800, DIMM, 240-Pin) Memory

I'm following guidance obtained from the answers.microsoft forum

All cables fine. No alternative HDD, except the original with 32bit Win10 which works fine.

Just to let you know I just stuck with it and finally I've got my clean 64 bit installation on the new 2 TB HDD and upgraded the memory to 8 MB.

Sorry, only just realised I got my units wrong in my original post.
