I just got a new custom built computer and installed windows 10 on the SSD. When I try to download games on my 1 TB the ssd doesnt recognize the HD. I was told by the computer shop that it should automatically sync when I install windows on the SSD. I have very minimal knowledge about this type of stuff so any help would be great !. Also what driver would I download if I wanted to turn on the fans that came with my case? the chipset download is saying that my version of windows 10 is not supported by this driver then though I have windows 10 64bit and chose the option for windows 10 64bit in the drop down menu.

Motherboard- Z1070-A intel
GPU geforce gtx 1070 8gb
Intel i.7 4700k

250gb samsung evo 850 SSD
Black 1tb hard drive

it does show up in device manager and in terms of explorer I cant find the drive when i try to save something

You may need to activate the drive in disk manager.

Ok basically if you want your steam games installed on your HD. You can install steam on your SSD and then link to your HD. Click the start button and type CMD in search. At the top cmd will show so right click it and turn as admin. You may want to create a directory tree just like on C:. At the command prompt you want to create a mklink with this command. This creates a link to your HD if its D:.
mklink /J "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\" "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\"

You can adjust the D drive directory how ever you want as that is where you games will be stored on you HD.

What about disk management? is this a new drive? you might need to format and/or assign a drive letter

says local volumes are required to complete the operation

In device manager, disk drives, right click on the HDD and then hit properites, and go to volumes and hit the populate button near the bottom. What shows up? Sounds to me like the HDD has not been initialized, and thus not seen in windows explorer.

Did you install steam first and is the HD D:?

I am having a problem now to install games off steam to the drive. It says i cant make a new folder because it is just a readable drive and the file must be writeable
