Having transfer rate promblems with Hitachi Travelstar 5K1000 (HTS541010A9E680).

Hi, I am currently facing an issue with my laptop.
Its a HP-AB032TX bought in India and upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1.
It has the Hitachi Travelstar 5K1000 (HTS541010A9E680) hard drive and I am facing very slow transfer speeds. It doesn't matter if I transfer within the drive or the an external HDD. The speed starts from 80-90 MBps and drops to about 20 MBps. In case of an HDD sometimes to 100 KBps.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is the laptop's hard disk defragmented? Also you will experience low transfer speeds whenever small files are being copied. Finally I hope you are using the USB 3.0 socket on your laptop to connect the external hard disk

It may be a good idea to back up the data stored on the drive until you sort this out.

I would agree with dumb_man. You can defragment the drive. Also, you can try to transfer a single, big file.

Hi, thank you for taking out the time to help.
I have defragged the drive already and yes I was using the 3.0 socket.
I have tried files upto 16 GB it doesn't change the transfer rate. On low sized files I don't get enough time to read the rate.
Ill try the link you mentioned and post further updates.

Update-
So I downloaded the WinDFT from hgst's site but it is not even listing my drive. The PC is booting up and everything's working still it ain't listing the drive. Any suggestions?

It's strange that the drive is not picked up by the brand specific tool.
You can try one of the third party ones in the link.
