Hi Tom's Community-

Coming to you with a request for some advice, as I have hit a problem and its getting to the "tear some of my hair out" stage.

Brand new computer build. Key specs relevant here are:

ASRock B450M Pro4 mobo (latest 3.90 bios)
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Samsung 860 Evo m.2 1TB SSD
2x g.skill Aegis 8GB DDR4 3000
Sapphire RX 570 8GB

At this time, no other storage devices (HDDs, SSDs, or optical drives) are connected to the motherboard. Monitor, keyboard, and mouse are the only peripherals connected. The m.2 SSD is in the correct slot for its type (m2_2). RAM sticks are in correct slots (A2 and B2). System POSTS fine and can get into BIOS menu fine.

In the BIOS menu, the m.2 SSD shows up and is listed under the "Storage Device(s) List" under the "Advanced \ Storage Configuration" menu. However, it does NOT appear as an option under the Boot menu. Nothing appears there unless I have a Windows 10 install USB inserted. This is the case with BIOS settings at 100% default, but to confirm for you - SATA Mode is set to AHCI, and I've had CSM turned both off and on without effect.

Using a freshly made Windows 10 install USB, I can easily boot to UEFI Windows 10 Setup. Windows Setup sees the m.2 drive just fine and installs just fine and then I run into problems when it has to restart. After restart, I would expect the m.2 SSD to be bootable, but it is not. I can still see it in the "Storage Device(s) List" in the BIOS but still not available as an option in the Boot menu. I cannot figure out how to get this computer to boot to the m.2 SSD, even after Windows 10 has been installed on it.

I have done as much googling about this issue as I can, and I'm completely stuck. If anyone has some advice or ideas, I can't tell you how appreciative I'd be if you'd share them with me. Thanks so much for reading!

Thank you for the reply, but sorry, no. Windows Boot Loader is not an option. There are no boot options if the USB drive is not inserted. I also have an HDD that shows up as a boot option if it is connected, but I have left it disconnected while trying to install Windows on the m.2 drive.
