Having trouble Installing gts 450 card

I have windows 7 64 bit and when installing the drivers it says my hardware is not compatible. My motherboard is Gigabyte Ma785gm-Us2H and as far as I thought it this motherboard was compatible that I read on some site atleast 🙁
Let me know what might be the problem and btw usually when i start up my computer it was quiet as can be it just had a video chipset in the motherboard but now its like a fighter jet from the card. Any thoughts on that too? I have 500 w power supply the minimum is 400 w for this card. My slot is pci 16X of course fit right in 🙁
I am having some thoughts that this mobo is meant for Ati or something because its got all this Ati stuff on it + the that chip that was already in it (which i disabled when i was trying to install this card) far as i know though the card was supposed to be compatible

well even without any drivers, your card should be able to display to the monitor, it will just be in very low resolution (like 640x480 or something). once you install the drivers you will be able to change the resolution as you like. it's possible that your card is DOA, has the card been able to display anything at all before?

graphics cards will work in any motherboard because PCI-e is a universal standard, so that is not the issue here. you should go to nvidia's website to get the latest drivers for your graphics card, instead of letting windows automatically install them. hopefully that will fix your problem.

Ok so basically, the system requirements lab thingy on nvidia detected my ati radeon 4200 chipset but not the gts 450 but there is this page that was found for nvidia drivers. Is this the one i need? thankx in advance.

yeah, thats the latest driver from nvidia. i'm currently using that driver for my GTX460s. Don't worry about the auto-detection thing, just download that driver and install.

Also, this is kind of a dumb question, but did you plug your monitor cable (HDMI, DVI, VGA, or whatever) into your GTS450 or your IGP? Before you install the drivers make sure you're going through your GTS450.

Ooooo well the dumb question might actually be the culprit because i do not have any cable hooked into the ports outside the brackets i just assumed that the golden slots in the pci express was good enough. my monitor is old however and the case is new and i can't find a cable around here that would work

Wait, the cable was right there all along >.>
when i removed that cable and reconnected it to the gts 450 the monitor would not come on i guess ill have to redo the drivers get it ready again then when its ready plug the cable to the monitor but i wont be able to see to click install or anything
lol im so confused

also, the download was finished and it couldn't install because it couldn't find any compatible graphic hardware >.>

one thing im concerned about is that the gts isn't even coming up in the device manager or is that normal until the drivers are installed. But physically its there. Also, should i disable the chipset in my motherboard

Well the card is brand new and so far yet haven't been able to get the monitor to come on when the vga cable was hooked into it but i haven't tried lowering the resolutions yet so i will try that.

I also wondered why i didn't see "found new hardware" when i started up windows

I googled Doa video cards and found my way back to tomshardware lol and i came across something that i think what is my problem. My Psu didn't have a 6 pin connector input atleast from what i saw in there. So the card doesn't have any 6 pin power supplement going to it. Could this be why the card is not working? Actually, i opened the side panel just now and turned on my computer just to see if the card's fan came on and the little blue lights etc and it did so the card is obviously getting power through just the motherboard but i guess thats a bad thing right? I'm thinking ill have to get a compatible psu and ill be ok.

yea lol i feel like a fool. The 2 4 pin molex connectors were right there i didn't see them. I got the card to start now but still having problems with the disk installer when trying to install for win 7 64 bit it errors and says the operating system in use is not 64 bit even though i know for a fact its 64 bit. The drivers that i downloaded from nvidia.com worked though and the card now shows in the device manager. But the monitor still won't come on when i plug the vga cable into the card and yes even at the lowest possible resolution.
